eDiscovery in SA – Envy, Springboks, Tina Turner, and Relativity!

by Harrison

Envy is not an adjective that features often in my vocabulary as I have no time nor inclination to wish for stuff that others have…… but I must confess the word crossed my mind when I read so many posts and comments about the recent Relativity Fest in Chicago.

How I wish we had been there! All of the many posts have been so positive and exciting. The attendance was fantastic with representatives from around the globe and many sessions were not only standing room only, but some people were not able to access. Take a look at some of the snapshots and you will see what I mean - snapshots - So many people we know have commented and it is abundantly clear that there was a just a great atmosphere from start to finish. Then, of course there was the content with so much surrounding GenAI and Relativity’s position. Also new apps such as PII Detect which couples with Redact.

The biggest talk was all about aiR for Review and associated Gen AI apps. aiR for Review is mind blowing and for sure, changes document review as we know it. Its successes are astonishing with averages of 96% validated results – far more than human review and in a fraction of the time and cost. It has now been made available generally but sadly not yet in South Africa. The Relativity app is available, but we are awaiting Microsoft to install OpenAI on their servers in SA.

That said, we, at Harrisons eDiscovery Consulting are working hard on finding a way to have it available for our SA clients as soon as possible. It is right to say that we have all waited for some time for Relativity to release these new Gen AI features which were long in the testing stages but one thing that makes Relativity stand out is that the commitment and work on AI is second to none.

These days, it is not that difficult for smart programmers and developers to produce an AI solution, but much more so to the level of acceptability and defensibility for which Relativity is renowned. We do not want a feature that will not stand up in Court and risk aversion is paramount. The results and case studies from Relativity are already astonishing and please contact us for more information. We were unable to attend Relativity Fest Chicago especially having travelled to the UK recently for the RelFest London but we still feel immense pride in being part of the Relativity global community and about what we have managed to achieve together so far here in South Africa.

Springboks, Tina Turner and Relativity? The Springboks are currently World Champions and the best in the world. Tina Turner sang, “Its simply the best”. Relativity – need I say more?
